Atlus has opened a teaser website for the Shin Megami Tensei series’ 25th anniversary—teasing a new upcoming project—and the official Twitter account for the series has been updated accordingly.

Logo of the teaser website, showing off the roman numerals of the mainline SMT releases alongside their release years. The “Next” on top potentially hints at a “Shin Megami Tensei V.”

This follows Atlus director and producer Kazuyuki Yamai’s statements that there would be something to share in 2017 for the Shin Megami Tensei series’ 25th anniversary, and that various events are planned.

The first Tweet for the renewed SMT Twitter account stated the following, as translated by Gematsu:

The Shin Megami Tensei series 25th anniversary project has begun! A special site has been opened. We’ve also renewed this account for the 25th anniversary! Please look forward to more updates. Everyone, please take care of us in 2017!

The header of the website is written as “真・女神転生 25th Anniversary Projects,” implying that multiple projects are planned for this series’ 25th anniversary this year.

  • I hope Kaneko has something to do with this.

Hopefully the next game is on PS4

  • Vallen

    SMT V – PS4 (they have the demon assets/models from P5)
    P3 + P4 HD – PS4
Maybe an HD collection of the other PS2 games

That second one doesn’t seem likely at all, but is impossible overall for this specific example. This is specifically an SMT thing.

I do feel it’s likely that this is SMT V, all the signs point to that, and it’ll likely use the P5 assets…

That doesn’t mean it will be for PS4 though. The site’s metadata mentions the “NS” in multiple lines.

Can I see your sources on this? I don’t doubt you or anything, I’d just love to be able to see it with my own eyes.

        • Mr.Sammich

My sources are my own two eyeballs, mang.

Go to the site, left click and select “Inspect”, that’ll bring it up. It’s basically just showing you what your computer interprets when displaying the website.

I’m not tech-savvy, so I could be completely wrong and “NS” could mean something like “nanobot spaghetti”, but it’s in there.

The NS in the website has to do with The Open Graph protocol, not at all related with the NS console.

Well, even though I was wrong, I was right in the end! Kinda. I admit I don’t know shit about code, but they are making a SMT for Switch.
