Persona 5 Royal and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Win Japan Game Awards ‘Award for Excellence’ at Tokyo Game Show 2020

The annual Japan Game Awards took place at the online Tokyo Game Show 2020 this weekend.

Games that released in Japan between April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020 are eligible for the Award for Excellence. The winners are selected by the Japan Game Awards selection committee. Games are evaluated on:

  • Game Design
  • Programming
  • Graphics
  • Sound
  • Scenario
  • User Evaluation

Persona 5 Royal and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim both won awards for excellence.

The Award show can be seen below, dubbed in English.

Persona 5 Royal’s award, with messages from producer Kazuhisa Wada, character designer Shigenori Soejima and composer Shoji Meguro, is at 16:30.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim‘s award, with a message from producer Akiyasu Yamamoto is at 24:33.

Both games had previously won in the “future games division” category in 2019.
