As previously announced, the MMORPG Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine came to a close in Japan after 9 years in service on May 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM JST (May 23 at 10:00 PM EDT).

As with most massively online multiplayer RPG, the end was anticlimactic, but video of the final moments of the game have been captured for posterity:

Japan Server End

The red text box prompt underlined the complete end of the Megaten MMO, which had been running in Japan ever since April 2007.

The English version of SMT: Imagine was shut down by Marvelous USA—which incorporated Atlus Online—two years ago on February 28, 2014.

New Domains

Three new domains related to the Imagine MMO were registered by Atlus on May 10, 2016, however whether they are to prevent domain squatting or indications of plans for the future is unknown.

Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine was a massively online multiplayer RPG with the framework of an SMT game that was released on April 4, 2007. The game took place in a collapsed Tokyo, with players assuming the role of “Demon Busters” who fought and conversed with demons to survive in its harsh world.
