
Sega Sammy has released the company’s Fiscal Year Ending March 2023 (consisting of April 2022 to March 2023) financial results today. As with previous earnings reports, Sega has an outline for specific game series which notably performed during the year, including Persona.
According to the financial results, the Persona series sold approximately 1.23 million units worldwide (including digital and physical sales) in January, February, and March 2023.
This makes for a total of 3.27 million copies sold of the Persona series in the Fiscal Year ended March 2023. 270k copies were sold between April and June 2022, 230k sold between July and September 2022, and 1.54 million sold between October and December 2022.
The Persona series has sold 1.9 million copies more than the previous year, when it had achieved 1.3 million copies sold from the beginning of April 2021 to the end of March 2022.
The main contributors to the sales in the fourth quarter of FY ended March 2023 were the remastered versions of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden. These new releases were launched on Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Steam (for P3P) in January.
Persona 5 Royal Remaster Updated Sales
In November 2022, it was confirmed that the remastered version of Persona 5 Royal had sold 1 million copies worldwide after its release in October 2022.
In Sega Sammy’s report, the updated sales number for Persona 5 Royal Remaster has been confirmed as 1.7 million copies as of March 2023.
Previous Persona Sales Milestones
In November 2022, Atlus confirmed that the Persona series had sold approximately 16.8 million units worldwide. As of the end of November 2022, the Persona 5 series (including Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight) has sold 8.3 million units worldwide.
