Special Enemies
As the story progresses, the variety of enemies will expand. There’s the “Black Iron Sumo Wrestler” who throws enemies at you, the “Scarlet Tayu” that nullifies all frontal attacks, and the “Dark Garden Guards” who split into doppelgangers to confuse the player.
Map Elements
Each map has a variety of gimmicks to overcome. Examples are the “Surveillance Camera” that will summon additional enemies when you’re withing range, or the “Elevator” that moves up and down when a switch is pressed.
Stage gimmicks can also be advantageous, like the “Jump Pad” that allows players to traverse high places and the “Explosive Barrel” that explodes when it withstands a certain amount of damage.
Charge
During a turn where you can attack or take an action, if you choose to end your turn without acting, a “Charge” will be triggered. During the next turn, the character in question will be in an enhanced state that can turn the situation around. The effects of Charge vary from character to character, so experiment and find what works the best.
Erina can take enemies down, even from cover in this state. Ryuji’s melee attack damage and blowback distance increase.
Sub-Personas
In this game, all members of the Phantom Thieves of Heart can equip Sub-Personas. Equipping these Sub-Personas boosts a characters’ stats. Additionally, this allows characters to use unique skills inherited from these persona.
Persona skills can include ones that consume SP to activate like “Dia” or “Zio,” as well as passive skills that activate automatically by having them equipped.
Velvet Room Weapons
In addition to persona fusion, you can also fuse two personas together to create a new weapon. You’ll need two personas with specific conditions for each weapon to do this. These weapons are often better than the ones you can find in the shop.
A significant advantage these weapons have is that you can add attributes to them, so make sure to take full advantage of this feature.
Difficulty Level
On the Hard difficulty level and higher, enemies not only have increased health and deal more damage, but there’s also the added challenge of friendly fire.
When using area attacks, you’ll need to think about not hitting your allies. Otherwise, your team might find itself in a tough spot.
However, there’s a retry function, so you can try again as many times as you like.
Persona 5 Tactica will be released worldwide for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 17, 2023.
