Prior to the upcoming beta test, Perfect World Games has released a preview of some of the content which will be featured in the test.
Characters
Kano Shun
A central character to the story, Kano Shun is a sophomore studying at Kiba Academy. he is bad with communication and has almost no friends his age.
His goal is to become a top chef, to this end, after graduating high school he studied cooking at the ramen shop Yashengxuan.
Li Yaoling
A new character who will be introduced for the first time in this beta test, Li Yaoling is a girl in her first year of university. She was born in Sichuan, China and came to Japan as an international student. She sometimes shows a childish side.
She became restless due to struggling to find a goal in life, she is trying to find answers through new experiences.
There will be more new characters to meet in the beta test.
Audio-Visual Upgrades
The Awakening Test will see a major audio-visual upgrade, with brand new animations, a reworked interface , more seamless actions and more expressive Highlights. The test will also feature new locations such as the Inoue Line platform, Yashengxuan and Shinjuku.
Gameplay
A new dungeon will feature in the Awakening Test, formed by the shadows of people with a strong desire to not face up to their own desires. Other dungeon challenges will include gathering gold coins with the time limit and solving puzzles.
The test will introduce the Persona fusion system to optimize and upgrade Personas. The base level of the fusion system will strive to match the original game, and skill inheritance will also be implemented.
A wardrobe system will be added to the test, allowing the protagonist’s daily life outfit to be freely changed.
There will be an “unusual news” feature, allowing you to watch scenes from “that past story.”

A new pack of WeChat emotes has also been released.
The Persona 5: The Phantom X Awakening Test is scheduled to start on August 18, 2023. It will be a closed test and signups are now closed.
