Persona 5 Royal PlayStation Store Asia Lists ‘English/Chinese Ver.’ for February 20, 2020 Release Date [Update]

Update (2019-12-06): The PlayStation Store Asia listings for Persona 5 Royal have been changed, removing the “English ver.” part of the description. Now, the listings only feature “Chinese ver.”, indicating that the previous addition of “English” had been a mistake.

In September, it had been announced that the Traditional Chinese version and Korean version of Persona 5 Royal would be released in February 20, 2020. Recently, pre-orders for the digital version of P5R have gone up in Asia on the PlayStation Store. This includes the PS Store Taiwan and PS Store Indonesia listings.

What’s notable is that those listings not only indicate that the version of Persona 5 Royal available for pre-order is the Chinese edition of the game, but that it also includes English subtitles.

English description of P5R from the Taiwanese PS Store:

That which must be changed must first be stolen. Persona 5 the Royal is finally here!

Persona 5, the picaresque JRPG that sold over 2.7 million copies worldwide, winner of numerous game industry awards, returns with extra features and content! A brand-new playable character and expanded school year allow players to explore previously untold stories!

Live your best student life with newly added events and activities. After class, new enemies and gimmicks will test your skills as a Phantom Thief. Be careful though, palaces and treasure may not be the same as you remember them!

From other games listed on Asian PS Store pages, the games labeled with “English, Chinese, Korean, and/or Japanese” versions typically include subtitles of the indicated language within the game. It is also common for games released in Asia but not in the West to include English subtitles, such as the Asian release of Summer Lesson.

This is a possible indication that the English version of Persona 5 Royal will be released close to the Asian versions in February 20, 2020. Other indications include the recent Australian rating for the game, and that both the West and Asia localizations were announced together.

Persona 5 Royal was announced for a Spring 2020 release in the West in August. Atlus will hold an announcement for the English release of Persona 5 Royal tomorrow, on December 3, 2019.

Persona 5 Royal was released on The PS4 in Japan on October 31, 2019. It will be released in the West in Spring 2020, with a Traditional Chinese and Korean release on February 20, 2020.
