The first action RPG in the Persona series, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, will be released in Japan next week, and this week’s issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine #1628 (or the February 27, 2020 issue) includes a review for it.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Review Score

  • Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers (PS4/NSW) – 9/9/9/9 [36/40]

Comments from the Famitsu reviewers include:

  • The story takes 45 hours to complete.
  • The story is wonderfully done and you can really sympathize with the Phantom Thieves as they reunite after a long period apart from each other.
  • The battles feel like more of a joint effort, like “Warriors” games do.
  • It’s very fun to travel around the country with a substantial story component.
  • The overall performance is excellent, and the pacing is good enough to prevent players from getting tired of it, but a criticism was that there were frequent cutscenes, interrupting gameplay each time.
  • A solid sequel that can be played without feeling out of place, despite the genre shift.
  • The combat, which uses various elements from P5, is fun at a high level.
