
Sega Sammy has released their Fiscal Year Ending March 2022 second quarter (consisting of July, August, and September 2021) financial results today. As with the results for last fiscal year, Sega has an outline for specific game series which notably performed during that quarter, including Persona.
According to the financial results, the Persona series sold approximately 300k units worldwide (including digital and physical sales) in July, August, and September 2021. This makes for a total of 700k copies sold of the Persona series this fiscal year, from April to the end of September 2021.
As reported in May 2021, the Persona series had achieved 3 million copies sold from March 2020 to March 2021.
The main Persona titles responsible for the FY 2022 Q2 sales have not been listed. For the quarters last fiscal year, the latest games causing the repeat sales were typically:
- Persona 4 Golden (June 2020)
- Persona 5 Royal (October 2019)
- Persona 5 (September 2016)
- Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers (February 2020)
Sega Sammy states that the second quarter of FY Ending March 2022 had a strong performance in their entertainment content business, significantly exceeding their expectations and leading to a significant improvement in profitability compared to last year, which was greatly affected by COVID-19.
Previous Sales Milestones
Recently, the PC version of Persona 4 Golden on Steam reached 1 million copies sold as of June 30, 2021, a year after the game’s release on June 13, 2020.
The Persona series had reached over 15 million copies sold worldwide as of June 30, 2021. Alongside this milestone was Persona 5 Royal reaching 1.8 million copies sold.
Persona 5 Strikers had sold approximately 1.3 million copies worldwide as of April 27, 2021.
