Persona Series Sold 1.3 Million Copies Worldwide From October to December 2023


Sega Sammy has recently released the company’s Fiscal Year Ending March 2024 third quarter (consisting of October, November, December 2023) financial results. As with previous earnings reports, Sega has an outline for specific game series which notably performed during that quarter, including Persona.

According to the financial results, the Persona series sold approximately 1.29 million units worldwide (including digital and physical sales) in October, November, and December 2023. This comes from repeat sales of previously released Persona games, as well as the notable new release of Persona 5 Tactica on November 17, 2023.

The series had sold 630k copies in the first quarter of the Fiscal Year Ending March 2024, from April to June 2023. Subsequently, the Persona series sold 750k copies in the second quarter of FY Ending March 2024, from July to September 2023. This makes for a total of 2.67 million units sold in the past 9 months.

As reported in April 2023, the Persona series had sold 3.27 million copies last year, from the beginning of April 2022 to the end of March 2023.

Previous Persona Sales Milestones

In November 2022, Atlus confirmed that the Persona series had sold approximately 16.8 million units worldwide. In December 2023, the Persona 5 series (including Persona 5Persona 5 RoyalPersona 5 Strikers, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, and Persona 5 Tactica) had sold 10 million units worldwide.

In April 2023, Sega confirmed that the remastered release of Persona 5 Royal had surpassed 1.7 million copies sold. In November 2023, Persona 5 Strikers reached over 2 million copies sold.

Recently, it was announced that Persona 3 Reload had sold over 1 million copies worldwide in less than a week since its release, making it the fastest selling Atlus game in history. This data will be factored into Sega’s financial results for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, with P3R having released in February 2024.
