Variety has learned through their sources that Netflix is developing a live-action TV series based on the Persona series.
The writer, executive producer and showrunner will be Christopher Monfette, who worked as a writer on Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys, and 9-1-1, and will be co-executive producer on VisionQuest. Shawn Levy and Robert Atwood of 21 Laps—the studio that produced Stranger Things—will also serve as executive producers, along with Story Kitchen’s (production studio specializing in video game IP adaptations):
- Dmitri M. Johnson
- Michael Lawrence Goldberg
- Timothy I. Stevenson
Notably, Sega producer Toru Nakahara—who has worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise—will also executive produce.
The Variety author, Joe Otterson, has previously reported on the Life Is Strange TV series through executive sources before its formal announcement.
In 2022, Sega had discussed a desire to expand the Persona series, amongst other Atlus IP, into media specifically including live-action TV and movies.
