Shin Megami Tensei IV Final Game Intro Overview and New Screenshots

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final will be released in Japan in two weeks and electronics retailer Joshin web had a player inexperienced with the Shin Megami Tensei series give their impressions on the start of the game, alongside new screenshots released for it.

Game Intro Overview & Screenshots

First, players choose among three difficulty levels to start the game with. The difficulty setting can be adjusted at any time during the course of the game, so this decision is not permanent.

After the initial difficulty level is decided, the opening cutscene starts and a “mysterious figure” appears. The protagonist subsequently wakes up, to be greeted by his childhood friend Asahi.

Starting off in the “Evildoer Hunter” base—the group the protagonist belongs to—two unique characters are encountered: a youthful man called Manabu and a knowledgeable veteran called Nikkari.

With the objective to clear out the demons around the Evildoer Hunter base, the protagonist and Asahi are tasked with retrieving a “relic” outside.

A smartphone with a cracked screen is found. This is known as a device that evildoer hunters can use to summon demons. Suddenly, the smartphone seems to function as it turns on, and this is where players enter the name for their character.

Nikkari and Manabu inform the hero on how to use the smartphone to battle, but suddenly the hero is surrounded by a group of demons lead by Adramelech. A battle begins, but the strength of the demons is too overwhelming and the hero is defeated, after which the vision of his crying partner blurs.

The hero subsequently finds himself in a completely different location than he was a moment ago: Yomi, the land of the dead. The hero wanders while hearing voices, and that’s when Dagda makes his appearance, who has been an inhabitant of Yomi.

Dagda has a proposition for the hero: “If you form a contract to become my “god killer,” you will be revived.” The protagonist considers this proposition… and that’s the full report of the story from Joshin web, who recommend getting the final game to find out what happens next.

The rest of the screenshots from the report, which provide an overview on the different elements of Shin Megami Tensei IV such as the returning character Flynn, demon fusing, the “Digital Devil Service” 3DS communication system, demon negotiation, etc.

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final is slated to release for the Nintendo 3DS on February 10, 2016 in Japan.
