
Following the announcement of a video showing off the “latest information” for Shin Megami Tensei V, Atlus has released a news report going over the new details highlighted in the “Story Trailer” released last week.
Presented by regular host to Atlus live streams Chiaki Matsuzawa, the first volume of the SMT V news report went over the new characters, and new elements to the battle system.
During the Press Turn Battles, players will be able to fill a gauge to use what is called “Magatsuhi Skills.” These are versatile and powerful abilities that can be used for offensive and defensive purposes, that the enemies can also use.
Additionally, it was confirmed that Shin Megami Tensei V will have downloadable content akin to previous Shin Megami Tensei games, where players will have access to dungeons in order to facilitate progress through the game by accumulating experience points or money.
New Characters
The official website’s character page has been updated with artwork for the new characters, members of the Bethel Japan Branch, which is an elite organization devoted to fighting demons and protecting Tokyo.
Tao Isonokami (Voice: Saori Hayami)
The protagonist’s classmate. A third-year student and member of the lacrosse club. Caring and kind-hearted, she has had a sixth sense since she was a child. Everyone at Bethel calls her “The Saint.”
Yuzuru Atsuta (Voice: Kaito Ishikawa)
A friend of the protagonist’s. He is responsible, capable, and assertive. He fights alongside Bethel in a provisional unity in order to protect his sister, Miyazu.
Ichiro Dazai (Voice: Kishou Taniyama)
A cheerful guy who can be gauche at times. He becomes involved in the Takanawa Tunnel collapsing incident while live streaming. He joins Bethel, swearing to fight the demons and prove his worth for a noble cause.
Miyazu Atsuta (Voice: Ryou Hirohashi)
Yuzuru’s little sister and only living family member. Shy and reserved, she’s often seen visiting the nurse’s office. She is caught in the chaos when her high school is attacked by demons.
Hayao Koshimizu (Voice: Kenjirou Tsuda)
The Prime Minister of Japan and the Chief of the Bethel Japan Branch. Calm, collected, and strategic, he offers the demon summoning program to Ichiro and his friends, asking them to assist Bethel.
Sahori Kijima (Voice: Lynn)
A fellow student who is attacked by a demon at the school when the protagonist returns to protect it.
