Atlus’ Kazuyuki Yamai, the director behind Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster, confirmed on October 21, 2021 that the game had shipped a total of 500k copies worldwide since its release a year ago on October 29, 2020 in Japan, China, and South Korea.
Alongside the reveal of the Demi-fiend 1/1 scale bust last month, Kazuyuki Yamai issued a statement of Atlus’ supervision of the bust. In this statement, Yamai confirms that 500k copies of SMT III HD, including digital copies, have been shipped worldwide.
As of April 27, 2021, SMT III HD had shipped over 250k copies in Japan and Asia, six months after the game’s initial release. Six months later, largely due to the Western release of the game in May 2021 as well as its worldwide PC release, SMT III HD shipped an additional 250k copies as of October 2021.
According to Sega Sammy’s Japanese Annual Integrated Report 2021, the Shin Megami Tensei series has sold 17.7 million copies (including digital copies sold and free downloads from the mobile game Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2).
