Atlus Releases Shin Megami Tensei V Spoiler Warning, Media Distribution Guidelines [Update]

Update (2021-10-21): Atlus West has released their Shin Megami Tensei V Streaming FAQ, with the same guidelines for streaming the game as in Japan.

Atlus has released spoiler and media distribution guidelines prior to many of their larger, modern releases, and the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V is no exception.

As with the previous guidelines, the ones for the latest mainline entry in the SMT series includes details on the dissemination of potential spoilers for the game, as well as the distribution guidelines for video and live streaming.

WARNING: The spoiler guidelines themselves may potentially include spoilers of a certain in-game location.

Prohibited Distribution Sections

  • The cutscene after completing the Temple of Eternity, up until the ending and staff credits appear.
  • Boss analysis information that can be viewed on the menu screen.

When distributing content that corresponds to story scenes, a notation that clearly conveys that the media will contain story segments should be used, such as “This contains spoilers,” even in areas other than the prohibited sections.

Additionally, the distribution of videos and live streams before the game’s release date is strictly prohibited.

Distribution Guidelines

    1. Screenshots and videos of this game must be distributed on an online service for personal use.
    2. When delivering content corresponding to the story like event scenes, please clearly indicate that the content includes story, so as to not deprive other customers of their enjoyment.
    3. The distribution of videos, live streams, etc. before the release date is strictly prohibited.
